Mother Nature Makes Time Person of The Year List .
Reading an article recently, it became apparent that Hurricane Katrina
made headlines in more than one way.
In the Time Magazine’s annual report for the “Person of the Year”
for 2005 is not a person at all, but Hurricane Katrina.
The impact of this Natural Disaster will resonate with us all for many years to come. The
horrific sites and sounds from the television, and the lost and devastated individuals who had to endure this catastrophic
event is embedded in our memories.
Hurricane Katrina set apart from all other natural events because of the force in which it hit.
I don’t believe people really understood how strong this storm would be, or how it would effect such as it has.
“Mother Nature -- encompassing natural disasters from the Asian tsunami to Hurricane Katrina and the
Pakistan earthquake -- evokes issues ranging from presidential politics to race to oil to infrastructure and leadership, said
NBC news anchor Brian Williams, one of the panelists gathered to debate the annual selection”.
Mother Nature is a force to be reckoned with and she is taking back what is hers. It is
apparent that all the misuse and abuse of humanity has captured her attention in a not so positive way. It
seems that the areas that hold our oil for the consumers and areas in which is over populated and abused are the areas she
is targeting. Process of elimiation of sorts. Is it Her grander scheme of things to clean up and make room
for the future generations who have a better understanding of the complex and intricate system we live in? Perhaps,
but I believe this is only the beginning of the changes that are taking place, and as our government is not interested in
making changes to protect our enviroment, things will certainly get worse.
Changes are happening everyday. What we do with the knowledge that is gained from these
events will determine Mother Earth’s future along with our own.
Certainly something to think about.
Many Blessings
